Rotherham United Manager Neil Warnock can’t be any happier that there is competition for places up front in his team.

‘Leon Best has done well and so has Matt Derbyshire as well as Danny Ward when he’s been around,’ the Millers Boss told MillersPlayer. ‘In fact I feel sorry for Danny Ward who would probably get inmost teams at the moment but Besty’s got that bit between his teeth. And Darbs is gambling but we don’t want him to stay out wide we want him to get in there and try and get goals.

‘You have to get goals from all over and when we came we weren’t scoring enough and conceding a lot so we changed the defensive side of things then looked at how we were going to get more goals. And Lee Frecklington has played a major part in that.

‘The competition has been good up front. Jerome (Thomas) has come back into a patch of form after being out a few weeks. He’s done really well in training. Jono (Jonson Clarke-Harris) is looking sharp again and , as I said, Wardy has been looking phenomenal. It’s good for a manager to have that sort of choice.’

Talking about the unlikely pair of Kirk Broadfoot and Richie Smallwood getting goals against MK Dons last weekend, the Gaffer said, ‘I think Margaret Thatcher was in power when Broady scored his last goal! It’s no wonder they were celebrating.’
