Rotherham United Manager Neil Warnock made three changes to the team for this afternoon’s game against play-off side Hull City.

Frazer Richardson, Danny Ward and Jonson Clarke-Harris got the nod at the KC Stadium with the Millers Boss telling Radio Sheffield, ‘We lost Matt Derbyshire. Leon Best wasn’t right this week and so we couldn’t start him and Joe Mattock wasn’t right.

‘We haven’t really got a squad big enough to cope with losing so many players and that showed today. There’s a lot of work needs doing in the summer.

‘The recruitment in the summer has got to be better than it’s been. I look at the players who will be released and the players who aren’t in the squad. You know you’ve got to get players who you know can play in the Championship. You can’t afford to gamble you need to have people who you know can do the job at this level.

‘We definitely need to get one or two quick wide players. We’ve got to replace Grant Ward because it’s very unlikely we’ll get him again.

‘But you’ve got to spend wisely. Looking at the wage bill this year I think there’s been a lot of waste. But hopefully with the retained list and money coming into the club from the released players it gives you the chance to get the squad up to scratch with a bit more quality probably.’

One player who did make his first team debut this afternoon was Darnell Bailey-King with Neil saying, ‘I’ve seen him in the reserves and I wanted to give him a run out. I wanted to put him on for longer but didn’t want to punish him! It’s good for youngsters to get a chance and one he’ll remember through the summer and he’ll try and become a regular in the squad in pre-season as well as two or three others.’
