Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne thought his team deserved the win this afternoon, although he also said he’s seen them play better.

Speaking to Freeview after the two-nil win this afternoon, the Millers Boss said, ‘I’m pretty pleased but I think we’ve played better, though we thoroughly deserved the win.

‘We started the game really well and created chances. I thought there was a ten minute flat spell then it picked up again before half-time. We didn’t put as many crosses into our box as I’d have liked but I’m still happy.

‘In the second half Wimbledon threw the kitchen sink at us but the lads defended really well. There’s some real experience in the Wimbledon team. Trotter caused us problems by going into our back four with long balls and they were a constant threat.

‘It was really about getting that second goal although I don’t think two-nil flattered us because we had enough chances to win comfortably.

‘It was nice to see Smudge (Michael Smith) score again today and it was nice for Bally (David Ball) to get one too. He works tirelessly as does Jerry (Yates) when he plays. I also think Semi (Ajayi) and Woody (Richard Wood) are doing well and I think the back four can all be pleased. Richie Towell, unfortunately, wasn’t able to play today but Matty Palmer stepped in. What gives me great pleasure is that when we were under pressure my goalkeeper (Marek Rodak) comes and punches away which my back four really appreciate.

‘I think the fans really appreciate that too. I feel that the fans are starting to believe in the lads. We’re trying our hardest to please them. When we make changes the fans really appreciate the players who come off and it’s a good positive place to be.

‘I believe my lads are putting more out there than most and deserve the accolades they get.’
