Rotherham United’s caretaker Manager Paul Warne says that tomorrow’s game against Burton Albion is ‘massive’.

‘I’ve watched Burton on TV endlessly this week,’ Warney told David Beddows of The Rotherham Advertiser, ‘and was even talking to Kenny Jackett about them on Monday so I know what their strengths.

‘They are particularly strong at home and everyone knows when there’s a change at the helm there’s always an injection of something maybe a different energy level, a will to win, a different system of play.

‘I’m trying to build it up to the lads that it’s a bit of a cup final. I’m trying to make sure they’re happy in training and tick as many motivational boxes as I can while working individually with a few. I’m trying to do every single thing I can and maybe, just maybe, it might be enough to get the performance the lads want to show and the fans want to see.’

Asked what he thought of Kenny Jackett leaving after such a short time, Warney said he respected his decision saying , ‘I’m aware everyone has their own life choices. People might think ill of me for staying at this club for so long. My experience has been that you don’t get too close to managers because they just come and go and so do players.’
