RUFC – Warney Relieved To Get Play-Off Spot Confirmed

|

Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne told Radio Sheffield that it was a relief to secure the play-off spot.

The Millers are set to finish fourth, although that could change, in League One with the Millers Boss saying, ‘We’ve been in a good position for a few weeks but until you actually cement it, as a Manager you are always a pessimist.

‘I was always thinking of the worst case scenario although, before the game on Saturday, I thought we’d done enough.

‘It was asking a lot of the other teams with the pressure they are under to win all their games. So it was a relief to go into the last two games being able to play them without that added pressure.

‘I was proud of the group who are a close and motivated group who, on their day, are definitely one of the top four sides in the league. I don’t think they’ve over achieved but everyone including my back room staff work tirelessly and it’s nice to get people’s respect who think we are doing a reasonable job.

‘I think our performances since Christmas have been deserved of a top six spot and when we had our wobble we were fortunate that teams around us weren’t picking up maximum points.

‘Yes, I am pretty proud of myself but I only play a little part in it.’
