Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne is pleased to have brought in experienced midfielder Darren Potter today.

‘It’s been a long time going through but I’m really pleased it’s happened now. He’s a great addition for all of us.

‘From day one I’ve said I want to get in young, athletic players,’ Warney told iFollow, ‘but I don’t want it to be like a Youth Club.

‘You have to have a platform to play and I think Pots is an ideal fit for us. He’s an experience pro who has played loads of games and has a really good character.

‘I want someone who can control the pace of the play and someone who will allow the front five or six to really attack and I’m happy with him and I think he’ll be a good, stable part of the team.

‘Richie (Barker) says he is one of the best pro’s he’s ever worked with and you can’t get a better commendation than that.

‘I think he’ll have a great career here and the fans will love him when they see him play. And I think he’ll be one of those signings we look on fondly in years to come.

‘I’d still like to get a goal scoring midfielder in but they cost a premium at the moment although we’ve put in a really good offer for one. And I need some strike power.’
