Rotherham United’s Caretaker Manager Paul Warne was again pleased with the way his players performed this afternoon.

Speaking after the one-nil loss at Hillsborough Warney told MillersPlayer, ‘It was a cruel way to lose.

‘The players are absolutely devastated in the dressing room. It’s the worst I’ve ever seen them but I’ve told them I’m really proud of them. I know they will be disappointed by the defeat but I’ve told them not to be disappointed by the effort they put in or their performances.

‘In the last four games they’ve given me everything they’ve got and as a leader of that group of men I’m a proud man.

‘We’ve lost three of the four games but we’ve never lost by more than one goal and we’ve always been competitive.

‘We had pockets of play, especially Joe Newell in the first half. And I think we had the better of the clear cut chances. They had a few ‘ooohs’ and Pricey (Lewis Price) saved some but I never really thought we were going to concede.

‘Being the only manager to lose here in twenty-odd years isn’t great but with this group of players I will go home hugely proud.

‘I’m proud of the lads but not the result.’

And as fans, Warney we are proud of you and the lads today
