Rotherham United caretaker Manager Paul Warne told Radio Sheffield that he was pleased with the game Izzy Brown had on Saturday.

The loanee from Chelsea came in for some abuse away at Burton last weekend which must have made him want to go straight back to Stamford Bridge but Warney started him at home on Saturday and he was my Man of the Match.

‘A lot of manager’s would tip-toe around him and tell him how great he is. Well I tell him how great he is but also tell him he won’t reach his potential unless his athleticism meets that.

‘I thought he tried really well at Burton and I had him in the office on the Monday to tell him how proud I was of him and I thought he was excellent on Saturday.

‘The way the Academy’s are in this country is that the big clubs produce footballers and they might get one or two through while the other lads do all the hard work and just give that one or two the ball.

‘So for Izzy to come from Chelsea to here where we’re in a scrap I don’t think he’s downed tools and his attitude to what we’re trying to get out of him has been excellent.

‘And, his career going forward, he’ll be a better man for it and, in my opinion, be a better player.’
