Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne says that his main aim is to keep a clean sheet while hoping to cut out the individual errors.

‘Obviously we can score goals,’ Warney told Radio Sheffield, ‘but I don’t think we should need to score three every time we need to win a game.

‘Obviously if you can keep a clean sheet then you’ve got yourself a point so that would be my wish.

‘Apart from maybe Wigan and Shrewsbury I think everyone in this league has got the same problem as us. Winning back-to-back games is difficult. Anyone from third place to tenth seems to be like us, you win one, you lose one. If we could tighten up defensively we’d be in a much better position.

‘I’m not disappointed with the side, I think they are really good, but I think we get punished a little bit for individual errors. It’s not like last season when I was standing there thinking ‘we’re getting ripped apart’ it just feels like they (the opposition) have three attempts on goal and two might go in.

‘From set-pieces we ask people to do their jobs and if one isn’t doing his and they score then that’s hugely disappointing.

‘There’s been the individual errors when someone hasn’t picked their man up and obviously we need to stop conceding goals. If we could tighten up at the back I think we’re a pretty good force.’

Asked if he would consider bringing in a defensive coach, Warney said, ‘No. I don’t think I need that. I’m really happy with all my coaches.’
