Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne told iFOLLOW that Saturday’s home defeat to Gillingham was a huge disappointment.

Speaking after the three-one defeat Warney said, ‘We spent the week telling the lads about Gillingham’s strengths and the fact that they’ve had some great results against some good teams so we knew what to expect.

‘We asked the lads to start the game well and fast but we conceded the early goal which was an individual error with someone not picking his man up which is a worry. That affected the team and it took them a long time to get going.

‘Credit to Gillingham who I thought played really well, they really frustrated us. Three-one maybe flattered them in the end but they played us well today.

‘There wasn’t enough positivity on the ball for me today. A few of the lads were under par today but I could name eight or nine of them which is worrying so hopefully that’s just their one game. We’ve told them some home truths in there.

‘After watching that today some of the lads who weren’t involved have a right to ask why aren’t they getting a chance.

‘Kieffer (Moore) got his goal which was good but we didn’t have enough after that and we conceded again from a corner which amazes me.

‘It’s disappointing coming into the FA Cup week not to pick up any points which could have potentially put us into third place.’

Warney also said he was disappointed with Joe Mattock’s sending off saying, ‘It was definitely a yellow card then Joe has obviously reacted badly and I expect more from him. He has apologised to the group but that’s little consolation.’
