Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne says he hopes goalkeeper Richard O’Donnel‘s career flourishes with his new club Northampton Town.

‘Rich obviously wants to play,’ Warney told Radio Sheffield, ‘and Northampton offered him a good deal. It was an extra year on top of what we had him on which is good security for him and his family.

‘I had an honest conversation with him telling him that I see Marek (Rodak) ahead of him who I think has really think he’s grown into the shirt.

‘I’m trying to keep the back five as solid as I can and Marek has played a big part in that so I am in no rush to change it.

‘Rich and I are good friends but that’s football and if I never let any players go then we’d have a team of fifty year olds in fifteen years time.

‘So Rich is off to Northampton and I hope he has three brilliant seasons for them.’
