Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne told Radio Sheffield that he thinks Richie Towell brings a bit of creativity to the team.

The twenty-six year old joined the Millers from Brighton on the last day of the August transfer window and has scored once in nine appearances in all competitions.

He started the Checkatrade Trophy game on Tuesday against Chesterfield, playing forty-five minutes with Warney saying, ‘He’s got a really good work ethic and his work rate has been really good. When I told him on Monday that he’d be playing for forty-five minutes on Tuesday he said ‘brilliant, Gaffer, I just want to play’ whereas some of the players might have thought it was a punishment, which really wasn’t the case.

‘When we watched the game back from last weekend the balls through and nearly chances were virtually all through him. And at Bradford it was him running back and sweeping up more than anyone.

‘He’s one hell of a bad loser which isn’t a bad attribute to have. He just really wants to win.

‘He just wants to play and I think he brings a bit more creativity to the middle of the park.’
