Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne says he wasn’t really aware of the rivalry between the Millers and Doncaster Rovers prior to this season, despite playing in South Yorkshire derbies himself.

Speaking to Radio Sheffield ahead of the game with Rovers on Saturday, Warney said, ‘Obviously, when I was a player I knew Doncaster was down the road but didn’t know there was a massive rivalry between us.

‘I was well aware about the rivalry with Sheffield Wednesday and I think there’s a sort of mutual respect with Sheffield United. It’s weird really.

‘But I wasn’t aware that there was a big deal with this game until this year when we played them away how quickly we sold our tickets.

‘Possibly because we haven’t played them in recent years it adds a little bit more to it.

‘It should be a good game.’
