Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne told iFOLLOW that he’s pleased to have a strong attacking bench.

The bench on Saturday at Scunthorpe consisted of one goalkeeper (Lewis Price), one defender (Michael Ihiekwe), three forward thinking midfielders (Matty Palmer, Jon Taylor and Ryan Williams) and two strikers (Jerry Yates and Caolan Lavery).

‘It’s harsh for my defenders who aren’t getting on the bench,’ Warney said ahead of tomorrow clash with Oxford, ‘but, unless there’s an injury, it’s not very often you have to think about sticking a full-back on.

‘If the worse comes to the worst then I can always push another player into a full-back row but football is all about scoring goals so if we’re lacking goals or want to score more then I’ve got two amazing wingers on the bench, two excellent centre-forwards who are desperate to play, Iky (Ihiekwe) who had a great start to the season and, at the moment, I’ve got Matty Palmer there.

‘Any one of them could be in my first team.’
