Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne says it was good to end the year on a win after coming away with all three points from Walsall yesterday.

But Saddlers’ Manager Jon Whitney wasn’t impressed with his teams defending in the two-one loss to the Millers.

Speaking to BBC WM Sport after losing to Rotherham, Whitney said, ‘I thought we created enough chances, especially in the first half, to go in a couple up.

‘I don’t mind if you get beat by a better team but it’s the manner of their two goals and the fact that we don’t take our chances that’s frustrating.

‘I thought we were the better team but once they get their second goal they can just sit in and then it’s very difficult for us to break them down.

‘Two very poor goals to give away. The first goal was really poor defending and a poor free-kick to give away. We should have cleared our lines, we didn’t cover the goal quick enough or with enough urgency. It was the same for the second goal.

‘You can’t give a team like Rotherham two goals like that. I think we’ve just made it two easy for them to have scored those two goals.’
