Rotherham United’s Caretaker Manager Paul Warne was obviously disappointed to lose the game at Hillsborough in the ninety-fourth minute of the game to a disputed penalty saying the players were ‘devastated in the dressing room’.

But Owls Manager Carlos Carvalhal thought his team deserved the win.

Speaking to Radio Sheffield after the late one-nil win Mr Carvalhal said, ‘I thought we deserved to win in a game which was very difficult.

‘We had walls to break down and the first one was that we hadn’t beaten Rotherham here since the 1980’s and the second wall we had to break was the one Rotherham made in their defensive organisation. And that wasn’t easy.

‘Our job was to try and create chances and for the first fifteen or twenty minutes we played a good level where we created chances, had a lot of corners and free-kicks and tried to score. We knew if we scored it would create a big impact in the game.

‘I think we deserved the win but I must congratulate Rotherham who fought for their lives with a good defence and also created problems for us.’
