Rotherham United Manager Steve Evans praised his team for their workmanlike performance on Tuesday night in their win over Accrington.

Meanwhile Accrington Manager Leam Richardson held his hands up and said he didn’t think his team played well.

Speaking to Accrington Stanley’s Official Site after the defeat, Richardson said, ‘In patches we were OK but we didn’t offer as big a threat as I’d have liked and two mistakes from our point of view has given them two goals. And, in general play we weren’t as fluent as we have been but you can’t get too down and we’ll bounce back sharpish.

‘We started the game tremendously well and I thought the first three or four set pieces we put over were a threat and they seemed to be all over the place. And, if we’d had the momentum and built on that we’d have gone on from strength to strength.

‘Teams like Rotherham do make it difficult and they do things to slow the game down and spoil the game especially when they’re in front which is what they do when they’re away from home and trying to win a game of football and there’s no problem with that.’
