Rotherham United`s new training ground at the former Outokumpu site at Brinsworth will start to take shape in the Autumn.

Speaking to David Beddows of The Advertiser, the Players Facilities Manager, Dave Fellowes said, ‘There will be a lot of work to do at the training ground what with the excavation, levelling and drainage as well as renovating the existing buildings so we aren`t looking to start the renovation work until September. With the stadium project still ongoing we don`t want to take on too much at once.`

The club are planning to install four full sized football pitches of which one would be artificial and put in a gym, changing rooms and offices and Dave carried on, ‘We are looking at Level 2 Academy status which depends on the number and quality of the pitches plus the other facilities. Then the club will be able to enter a higher youth league and attract better players.`
