Rotherham United are back to searching for a new training ground after the site they picked has proved to be unsatisfactory.

At the moment the Millers first team are training at The Keepmoat Stadium at Doncaster and the juniors at Aston Comprehensive School. A new training base had been earmarked near Rawmarsh Comprehensive School but it has now proved too small to house all the playing staff.

‘We need a place big enough to meet the needs of all our teams – first, reserves and Centre of Excellence,’ Chairman, Tony Stewart, told The Advertiser. ‘It seems Rawmarsh is now out and I can see the situation of us using Doncaster and Aston continuing into next season.’

Mr Stewart said he would have liked to have the training facilities next to the planned new stadium but now says, due to lack of space, ‘that’s unlikely.’ He also said that he would hope to have located a site by the middle of November.

Speaking about the proposed new stadium, he said the club had picked two provisional sites if the first choice of Parkgate should fall through.
