Rotherham United Goalkeeper Tony Thompson has signed his first professional contract this week and says it’s all he’s been dreaming off since joining the club.

‘I’m over the moon,’ the eighteen year old told MillersPlayer. ‘When I was first told that I was getting the contact I was so nervous but it was good to hear.

‘I’ve had a great season and I was on the bench for around six months and travelling away with the first team and warning up with them at the new stadium was just unreal and it’s been good to get the advice off the likes of Kari Arnason, David Noble, Scott Shearer and Andy Warrington who have so much experience. And I couldn’t have asked for a better coach than Andy Dibble.’

Asked what his hopes are for the coming season, the Liverpool born ‘keeper said, ‘I want to be involved in the first team and if that means going out on loan to get some experience then that will be fine.’
