Rotherham United full-back, Dale Tonge says that he is on track to be fit for pre-season.

Tonge, who was in and out of the side last season due to various injuries, last played for the Millers in March and has been wearing a protective boot since on a foot injury. It is expected that he will be having an X-ray early next week and the former Barnsley trainee is confident that he will be given the thumbs up to start training again.

Speaking to The Star, Tonge said, ‘I want to show Ronnie (Moore) that I am a good player and worthy of a place in the side. I feel I’ve got a lot to prove to him and I hope I can show him what I’m capable of this season.

‘I can’t describe how frustrating it’s been, especially having to watch the team at Wembley. I was absolutely gutted for the boys at what happened in the final.

‘But we have to be positive now and go for automatic promotion this season. But, my first aim is to get a good pre-season under my belt.’
