Rotherham United defender Dale Tonge only last four minutes on Saturday before having to be helped from the field with an ankle and knee injury.

At first it was thought that the twenty-seven year old would be out for three or four weeks but today it’s been revealed that he’s had an operation to repair the ankle injury and will be out for ten to twelve weeks.

The former Barnsley player has had to have his ankle manipulated back and has also damaged medial ligaments in his knee.

Dale joined the Millers in the summer of 2007 but has had a few injury problems on the way including missing out on a Wembley appearance after breaking a foot in 2009.

All at Vital Rotherham wish Dale a speedy recovery
