Rotherham United begin their push to stay in the league today at their new home of Don Valley Stadium which lies just outside Rotherham – and I think most fans who go will be breathing a sigh of relief.

It could have been oh so different. We could have been thrown out of the league altogether and it wasn’t until yesterday evening that we actually got to know that we had got the much coveted Football League Share back.

Even though we are starting seventeen points behind most of the other teams in League Two I think we have been lucky.

But now we’ve got to put all that behind us and start our mini-league with Bournemouth and Luton Town today and the first people we have to overcome is the Imps of Lincoln City who, I think, will do well this season.

We really need to start with a win under our belts and us, the fans, have to get behind the team. During the friendlies the atmosphere has been non-existant. Whether that’s because it was only friendlies, or perhaps the one’s who start the singing off weren’t there, or maybe it’s just how the stadium is, I don’t know. Hopefully there should be a lot there today – and it looks like Lincoln will bring a few along too – so let’s make some noise. Let’s raise the roof and show Don Valley what us Millers can do – and here’s hoping we come away from our first game of the season with smiley faces.
