Rotherham United Midfielder Michael Tidser says he is ready to fight for his place in the team.

Tids signed for the Millers last summer and made sixteen appearances last season, mostly off the bench, before he went on loan to Ross County where he went on to play sixteen times.

Although on the bench last Saturday at Derby he didn’t make it onto the pitch but did play the full one hundred and twenty minutes in the Capital One Cup win over Fleetwood on Tuesday night – and I thought he was one of the better players (plus he has impressed me in the pre-season friendlies too).

Speaking to The Advertiser the twenty-four year old Scotsman said, ‘I thought we deserved the win on Tuesday. Although we are a confident bunch here if we’d lost it would have been a bit of a dent.

‘The Gaffer has reiterated that we need to pick up points at home in the League and although we know that good teams are going to come here we are a good team as well.’

Speaking about last season, Tids admitted he probably wasn’t up to scratch saying, ‘I didn’t do myself any favours and going out on loan and getting games has done me a world of good. But I’m under no illusions, there are a lot of good players here but I want to make a right good go of it.’
