Rotherham United’s caretaker Manager, Steve Thornber has told The Advertiser that he doesn’t really see himself as a manager.

Pushed in at the deep end with Alan Crawford and Paul Warne after Mark Robins, John Breckin and the rest of the backroom staff left for Barnsley, Steve said, ‘I’m like a young John Breckin now – I’ve done every job at the club! I’ve been coaching for twelve years so it’s not that I’m new to it but I see myself more as a developer of young players.

‘It’s been quieter without Mark Robins and the others and we’ve had to look at things and act accordingly. But, as I expected, the players have responded well.’

Chief Operating Officer, Paul Douglas said, ‘We have every confidence in Steve. He’s a good experienced coach.’

All at Vital Rotherham wish you all the best for tomorrow Steve.
