Rotherham United fans are amongst the supporters who have munched on a record breaking 700,000 Pukka Pies this season.

Pukka Pies have been selling pies to football fans for thirty years and, as we Millers all know, the first club to sell the pies was Rotherham United.

Now, Pukka Pies sell at thirty-nine grounds throughout the Premier League, Football League and Conference and Pukka’s Marketing Controller, Peter Mayes told Football Trade Directory.com that they are still keen to add other clubs to their list.

‘We are expecting the number of clubs we serve to continue growing and the number of pies sold could soon pass over one million a season,’ Mr Mayes said. ‘Clubs that switch to Pukka Pies often see a significant uplift in sales with increases of forty per cent not uncommon.’

Traditionally Millers fans have been the biggest buyers of matchday pies with almost forty per cent of crowds at the League Two club purchasing a pie on a matchday. And, five years ago, Pukka celebrated their twenty-fifth anniversary of pie selling at Millmoor when a bronze Pukka Pie trophy was presented to the club at half-time when Nottingham Forest were the visitors.

Have you got a story about a Pukka Pie? In the back of my mind is the one where an Everton fan bought a good old Meat and Tater Pukka at Millmoor at half-time, found it was much too hot for him to eat, took it back to Merseyside and ate it when he got home and insisted that the pie was still warm!
