Rotherham United are a bit on the late side naming their retained list but that’s probably because they don’t know who the Manager will be next season.

The Millers have sixteen players coming to the end of their contracts with Neil Warnock saying he has suggested to the Chairman and Board who he would and wouldn’t keep.

But with the rules changing and there being no short loan allowed next season he told the Mail Online that some players he thought might be released could actually stay and be offered incentive-based contracts.

‘That means you are going to have a squad of maybe twenty-three or twenty-four next season.

‘I have given my recommendations but at the end of the day it’s up to the Chairman and Board and we will talk about it this week so I imagine it might be announced next week.’

I’d also like to think that we’d know by the middle of next week if Neil is actually staying or going – if he’s going we then have to start the process of looking for someone to take over and whoever that may be will surely want a say in who he wants to be in his squad.
