Rotherham United go into the last game of the season knowing that going into the summer they will only have eleven players in contract – so at least we’ll have a full starting quota!

Manager Neil Warnock has been talking to Chairman Tony Stewart and has suggested that maybe they just add three or four players in the summer and try and keep the players out of contract.

Speaking to David Beddows of The Advertiser Mr Stewart said, ‘We want to move forward with the players who have done a job for us this season. And, most, if not all, of those out of contract want to stay.

‘It’s a tidy shop and there’s a consensus that everybody seems happy as a team.

‘We’ve had the experience of playing top teams this season and we’ve shown what we can do as a team and as a body.’

The players who are out of contract in the summer are Frazer Richardson, Kirk Broadfoot, Stephen Kelly, Leon Best, Matt Derbyshire, Richard Wood, Alex Cairns, Adam Collin, Paddy Kenny, Lewis Buxton, Danny Collins, Lloyd Doyley, Manu Ledesma, Paul Green, Jerome Thomas and Luciano Becchio.

Of those I’d be very surprised if the first six weren’t offered new contracts and probably Jerome Thomas and Lloyd Doyley too.
