RUFC Steve Evans – Pawky?

Pawky =Scottish association meaning shrewd, cunning or mischievous from early English pawk for trick.

No reference to anything personal about Mr Evans other than in his press conferences. Having come across a few Scottish people of this disposition, I`ve learned that a direct question seems to get an answer that could be interpreted in different ways.
When Steve Evans said he was at NYS for as long as the chairman said he was, did this mean he`d asked to speak to a club and, for whatever reason, the chairman said no? One of those answers that, with hindsight, could show what was being said.
In the same way, the answer when asked about the Peterborough job was, he wasn`t being disrespectful to that club by speaking about it. Does that mean he was being disrespectful to this club, directors and supporters by NOT saying he wasn`t interested and making things crystal clear?
Sometimes there`s more to hear in what`s not been said. Was this parting such a surprise?
