Rotherham United skipper Richard Wood was deliriously happy when he spoke to Radio Sheffield after helping the Millers get to Wembley last night.

‘I’m so happy,’ he said, ‘and I am pleased to get on the score sheet as well.

‘My son’s been saying I was going to score all week so I had to get on the end of Will’s (Vaulks) throw.

‘It’s a great result and we’ve got to finish it off now. We’ve had to work hard for this and every player did tonight. I’m delighted. I can’t wait for Wembley.

‘We struggled last season and it was hard on everybody including the fans. The staff have turned it round, got the right players in, we’re a good group and it’s a pleasure to be with them every day.’

What a great achievement for Richard Wood after being sent hither and thither by previous managers of Rotherham United he will now captain his team on the hollow turf of Wembley – Well Done Woody!
