Rotherham United Manager, Andy Scott says that he wants his players to start to point the finger at their teammates when things aren`t being done right.

After the defeat on Saturday to Swindon Town Scott singled out stand-in skipper, Johnny Mullins for praise, saying he was the only one at the races saying, ‘feel for him in one way, but in another way I think if I was you then I’d get hold of a few people around me and expect them to work as hard and do the right thing.`

Carrying on from that, this week, speaking to Les Payne of The Star, Scott said, ‘Johnny Mullins was absolutely outstanding last Saturday but he has people letting him down and I want him to tell people when they aren`t doing the right thing – and, if they don`t then let`s have a tear-up.

‘I don`t mind because we`d all sort it out in the end and be all the better for it. Someone will be right and someone will be wrong and we`ll work out who that is and we`ll all have got it off our chest. At the moment we just accept that people are not doing what they should be and that`s why we get beaten.`

‘We`ve got some good players here and if we click mentally then I`ve no doubt that there`s no stopping us.`

I`m not sure about these pointing fingers at colleagues. In my experience that`s only caused a rift in the camp. Surely, playing as a team you have to base that on trust and if people are going around saying ‘so-and-so isn`t doing what he`s supposed to` then the trust is going to dwindle plus, in the case of some people, it could make them nervous and afraid of making mistakes. We all make mistakes, that`s human nature. Perhaps it would be better for Scott to ask people to ‘hold their hands up` and talk about what went wrong than having a free for all clear-the-air argument?
