Rotherham United Manager, Andy Scott has revealed that he told Chairman, Tony Stewart that he needed his full backing before he took on the job of Manager.

Speaking to The Star before the team jetted off to Portugal on a ‘bonding` trip, Scott said, ‘I`d come in and seen what it was like and, after a couple of weeks, told the Chairman that I wanted to sort things out from top to bottom.

‘I told him what was needed, what was going wrong and what wasn`t going wrong. I told him you can do it this way or you can do it by half. If you want to do it by half then you`ve appointed the wrong man as the manager. I told him I wanted to do it my way which would be the right way for the football club.

‘I said that it might hurt a little and there would be a lot of upheaval but, once it settles down that should be it.

‘He took it all on board and said ‘right, do what needs doing and get on with it.’ And, that’s what you want from a Chairman.’
