Rotherham United goalkeeper, Jamie Annerson has gone on an emergency loan to Bradford City in the hopes that he will get some games under his belt.

Jamie hasn’t featured for the Millers this season, having been injured during pre-season and Millers Manager, Andy Scott told MillersPlayer, ‘He’s been waiting for a chance and he needs to go out and play some reserve team football. Woggy (Andy Warrington) has been playing for our reserves because we need him match sharp.

‘We’ve only got about four or five reserve games left and we’ve got to look at our goalkeepers in the Youth team as well because we need to make decisions on them and be aware of how they are progressing.

‘Jamie’s come through his illness and since Christmas he’s really stepped up and we spoke to him and asked him if he was happy to go out and get some games. We were really looking towards non-league but Bradford came in for him and so he will get regular reserve team football for them but also he’ll be involved on a match day which will get him back into the rhythm of preparing for games and be able to get the mental side of it as well as the physical side of it.

‘He’s had a tough time of it and he’s worked ever so hard to come through it so he deserves this chance.

‘We spoke to him about the fact that we didn’t want this season to be a waste for him and we need his confidence to be up and for him to get his enthusiasm back for playing again towards the end of the season and so he can start fresh again in pre-season. So this is perfect for him to go and get involved without the pressure of playing every week. He’ll be training and preparing for a match day and it`s vital for him mentally and physically with the reserve games that they’ve got will give him the game time to improve and feel right for us for next season. He’s happy that he’s got the opportunity and we’re happy to give him that chance and it gives him an extra bit of a lift before the end of the season.’
