Rotherham United Manager, Andy Scott got resounding boos from the Millers faithful when he substituted new boy, Scott Griffiths this afternoon at Don Valley.

Explaining to Radio Sheffield why, Scott said, ‘It was a fitness issue. The fans were pretty vocal about that but we knew we’d only get sixty or seventy minutes out of Scott today and we will be working this week to get him fitter for next week.

Tom Newey came on and did what was asked of him and they didn’t really have much possession in the last twenty minutes but we still didn’t put the right balls in the area at the right time. We were trying to be too clever and again, they had a lead to defend and they did it.’

Marcus Marshall was back in the side today for the first time since he came off the bench at half-time against AFC Wimbledon last month and Scott said, about the twenty-two year old who was subbed after an hour today, Scott said, ‘Marshy’s a wide right player who has been asking for a chance to play and he got the opportunity but it didn’t work out for him today.’

Asked if there had been a temptation to start with Brett Williams, who replaced Marshall, this afternoon, Scott said, ‘Yes there was.’
