Rotherham United Nostalgia Society welcome former midfielder Phil Henson as their guest speaker this evening.

Phil played for Manchester City before moving to South Yorkshire with Sheffield Wednesday where he stayed for two seasons. In 1977 he moved to Holland and played for Sparta Rotterdam before moving back to England and Stockport County in September 1978. Two years later he moved to Millmoor where he helped the Millers to the Third Division title in the 1980/1 season.

After hanging up his boots Phil stayed with the Millers as Youth Team Coach before becoming Assistant Manager. In May 1991 Billy McEwan was sacked and Phil stepped up to Manager and achieved immediate success taking the Millers from the Fourth Division to the newly named Division Two. In September 1994 Phil was ‘moved up’ to the Chief Executive spot with Archie Gemmill and John McGovern taking over as joint managers.

The meeting will be held at The Green Dragon, Kimberworth with the doors opening at 8pm for an 8.30pm start.

All Welcome!
