Rotherham United Manager, Ronnie Moore thought the game last night was a ‘good workout`.

Speaking to MillersPlayer after the one-nil win over Lincoln in the Johnstone`s Paint Trophy, Moore said, ‘I thought first half we were a bit sloppy but the second half we upped the tempo and once we upped the tempo I thought there was only going to be one winner.

‘In the first half it was like a five-a-side. We were playing let them have it then we`ll have it then they have it so there were a few strong words at half-time. We looked to move the ball quicker and to play forward off the strikers a lot quicker

‘I think the best chance they (Lincoln) had was the one off Cress`s chest back to the ‘keeper so overall I can`t complain because I thought it was a good workout for us.`

Moore was asked about an injury to Exodus Geohaghon, which saw him subbed at the start of the second half, and he said, ‘Exodus had a groin injury that was really sore before the game but he wanted to play. At half-time he couldn`t kick with it so we had to bring him off. Young Luke (Ashworth) went on and I thought he did well. He just got caught once with a ball on the back post but his use of the ball is good and he`s a typical footballing centre-half.

‘I thought Cressy (Ryan Cresswell) was immense for us again tonight. He`s won everything and if he`d have scored that goal where he brought it down and hit it with his left foot he`d have been running all over the park.`

Talking about the goal that won the game from Adam Le Fondre on forty-seven minutes, Moore said, ‘It got a little deflection but what can you say about him. He`s gone in the box, come out of the box, been clever and the centre-half`s let him come out of the box and his first touch has been spot on. ‘

Asked about Tom Newey, who crossed in the ball for Alfie`s goal, his manager said, ‘He`s been a fantastic signing for us. He`s quick, he`s sharp, he`s aggressive and he crosses a great ball. He`ll be a crowd favourite and I think he`ll be here for a few years.`
