Rotherham United Manager, Mark Robins said his squad looked ‘sharp’ after the behind closed doors friendly win over Mansfield on Wednesday.

The Millers won four-nil with newcomers Tom Pope and Kevin Ellison getting goals in the game. Ian Sharps also scored. Robins made several substitutes so he could have a look at his squad in action and veteran striker, Paul Warne, who is on trial, got a game.

‘For thirty-six, Warne looks fit,’ Robins told The Advertiser. ‘Stephen Brogan is champing at the bit and Nicky Law looks good – but so do all the squad. The pre-season friendlies are all about fitness and giving all the lads match time. It’s early days and we have to make sure we are pushing on.’

It is expected that trialist Mark Grocott, from Stoke City, won’t be kept on.
