Rotherham United Manager, Mark Robins, told The Advertiser that he regretted having to let Marc Newsham and Jamie Yates go.

‘I am always sorry to see home grown players move on but there had to be a parting of the ways.’

Twenty-two year old Newsham made his debut for the Millers when they were in the Championship. He came on from the subs bench in a game against QPR in March 2005. This season he was on loan at Ilkeston where he helped them to promotion. Robins said about him, ‘He’s a good little player, better technically than most, but our position down the leagues counts against him.’

Jamie Yates has been out on loan at Burton Albion. The twenty year old made his Rotherham United debut in March 2007 against Brentford. And who will ever forget his brilliant goal in the last away game of last season at Mansfield! ‘Yates has a lot of ability,’ Robins said, ‘but he needs to match that up with his workrate. He should be playing higher up and I am sure he will find another club.

‘I wish Marc and Jamie all the best.’
