Rotherham United Manager, Mark Robins, isn’t exactly reknown for handing out praise but has done just that for Reuben Reid and the free kick that eventually earned the Millers a point on Saturday.

Speaking to The Star, Robins admitted that he thought of stopping Reid from taking the free kick. ‘I was very tempted to shout onto the pitch to get Reuben away from the free kick. But something stopped me and I said to the bench ‘you never know it might fly into the top corner.’ Well, it didn’t do that but it did end up in the net.

‘Reuben showed alertness, cleverness and skill. We were all expecting a shot but he deliberatley sidefooted the ball past the wall into the area and intentionally picked out one of our players. He was bright enough to see the possibility, clever and skillful enough to execute it. The pass actually went to Nick Fenton and he struck it towards goal and Ian Sharps diverted it in. He was really bright and he did really well.’
