Rotherham United have, this week, extended the stay of loanee, Ian Ross, from neighbours, Sheffield United and manager, Mark Robins, said, ‘he has done enough for me to want to keep him.’

Speaking to The Star, Robins carried on, ‘He got his chance to get in the team when Mark Hudson fell ill before the Wrexham game and he did very well. He did better against Darlington and even better against Notts County. He showed a side to his game that has been missing and performed better in games than he has in training. To me, that’s fantastic. So, he has done well enough for us to agree to keep him until the end of the season and we shall review the situation again.

‘And, it’s early days yet, he can add other aspects to his game and, hopefully, get stronger and better.

‘It was difficult for him to get in the side when he first came but we spoke and I stressed the need for him to be patient.’

That patience has paid off.
