Rotherham United’s Assistant Manager Richie Barker told iFOLLOW that last weekends win at Blackpool was a welcome three points.

‘We’ve cemented ourselves back in the top ten and hopefully have turned the back on a poor run of results and we can now start to look forward,’ Richie said.

‘The win lifts everybody’s spirits making it a more enjoyable place to be. Unfortunately training has been hit with the weather this week but the win made it a nicer place to come into.’

Speaking about last weeks two-one win at Blackpool, Richie carried on, ‘In the first half we limited them to just one shot on target and that was a thirty-odd yard screamer that ended in the top corner. If that hadn’t gone in then people would have said we looked good at the back but hadn’t been very creative. So we made the brave decision at half-time to change it and added more energy with the two boys who came on and got that positive result.

‘It wasn’t a major panic after we’d conceded it was something we’d thought about doing. We’d had some illness and injuries which meant we were stronger in some positions and not others and it was something we gave a go in the first half and the fact that they only had one shot in the first forty-five minutes gave us a platform for the second half.’
