Rotherham Reserves 3 v Sheffield Wednesday Reserves 0
Rotherham Reserves did something the first team failed to do last night, and that was to take a lead and keep it!
Tom Pope had the Millers first chance after four minutes but his shot went just past the post but it was Stephen Brogan who got the first goal on fifteen minutes when he raced forward from the back and curled a great effort into the top corner of the net past a bewildered Richard O’Donnell in the Owls goal. Two minutes later Pope doubled the lead, heading in from three yards out. Ten minutes later it was three when Pope turned provider for Tom Elliott who slipped the ball under O’Donnell.
At the start of the second half the same move almost brought number four but Elliott put the ball wide while both Pope and Paul Warne had headers that went wide while Pope also had a shot that went over the bar. The Owls only real shot came in the final minutes when Millers ‘keeper, Jack Leyden, did well to tip a Patrick Lacey shot over.
