Rotherham United Reserves 2 v Port Vale Reserves 3
After seeing ten goals on Saturday at Don Valley, around one hundred Millers fans, who braved the pouring rain, were entertained to another five goals last night.
The first real shot at goal was on sixteen minutes when Vale`s Fraser skipped round the Millers defence and his twenty-five yard shot hit the back of the net. After having a couple of harmless shots towards Martin in the visitor`s goal, the Millers finally equalised when a shot from Ollie Banks was deflected off Paul Warne into the net. But, more or less straight away, Vale went up the other end and Tony Malbon put the visitors back in the lead. Marcus Marshall ran from one end of the pitch to the other but was dispossessed before he had time to shoot and from that Kristian Cox went up the other end and made the score three-one.
With Marshall moving up front for the start of the second half the early pressure was all from the Millers with Jamie Green having a couple of shots that went wide while Joe Gaughan, on for Alec Denton, also saw a shot go just wide of the upright. Then the Millers got a penalty after Warne went down under a challenge from Davies in the area. The Millers veteran picked himself up and put the resulting spot kick away to make it three-two. There was a lull after this although Marshall had a shot deflected wide and Fraser, for Vale, rattled the crossbar in the final minute of the game.
