Chesterfield Reserves 2 Rotherham Reserves 1

A young Rotherham United Reserve side made the short trip over the border into Derbyshire this afternoon to take on Chesterfield at the Proact Stadium.

The first half ended goalless although both sides had a good chance. Firstly Davis Keillor-Dunn should really have opened the scoring for the hosts but put his shot wide of Alex Cairns’ goal before the Millers Chris Dawson did similarly towards the end of the half.

Dan Smalley might have put the visitors ahead in the second half when a deflected effort came back to him but his header from five yards out went wide of the goal. On seventy-six minutes Rotherham did find the net when Fabien Bailey got past his marker and slid the ball under Spireites ‘keeper Aaron Chapman. But in the last four minutes of the game Chesterfield scored twice the first one coming from the head of George Milner. In the last minute of the game the referee awarded the hosts a penalty which Dion Donohue converted to give Chesterfield the win.
