Newcastle Reserves 2 v Rotherham Reserves 0

Rotherham United went down two-nil this evening against Newcastle at Whitley Park.

The Millers had Stephen Brogan and Andy Liddell back after injury and Paul Warne was also in the team, getting his fitness back.

It only took three minutes for the Magpies to go in front. Shane Ferguson`s corner found Joan Edmundson whose acrobatic overhead kick landed in the bottom corner of the net. And, seven minutes later they had doubled their lead when Wesley Ngo Baheng got the ball in midfield and slipped it to Shane Ferguson whose shot, from twenty yards out, left Jamie Annerson with no chance as it went past him into the net. At the other end Paul Warne had a shot that went just wide and Jak Alnwick, in the home sides` goal, made a great reflex save from Jacob Webster.

The second half was relatively quiet, although Ngo Baheng decided to have a go at the crossbar challenge when he lobbed the ball onto it on sixty-five minutes. The only really exciting thing was when the floodlights went out near the end of the game.
