The man in charge of our game at the Globe Arena on Tuesday night will be …

Tony Bates from Staffordshire

Tony is now one of the longest serving referees after qualifying to be a ref in 1983. He reached the National List of Assistant Referees in 1993, joining the National List of Referees three years later.

Tony was in charge of our game at Don Valley against Darlington in October 2008. The Quakers’, Ricky Ravenhill scored the only goal of the game just after the hour mark.

Tony had also been in charge of a Millers game earlier in the year at the Deva Stadium. Once again the game ended one-nil, but this time to the Millers when Chris O’Grady scored on seven minutes. Six yellow cards were shown that day – Dale Tonge and Danny Harrison of the Millers and City’s Paul Linwood, James Vaughan, John Welsh and Kevin Ellison.
