Mr Tony Bates from Staffordshire

Employed as a production manager in the pottery industry, qualified referee since 1983, National List assistant referee in 1993, FIFA assistant referee 1996 and appointed to Euro 1996. Joined National List of Referees in 1996, now one of the longest serving. Assistant Referee Charity Shield 1995 and FA Cup Final 1996. Refereed FA Women`s` Cup Final in 2007.

His most recent Millers appointments were….

28th Feb 2004…..West Brom 0-1 Millers….1 yellow

19th Mar 2005….Millers 0-1 QPR….6 yellows

14th Feb 2006….Millers 2-0 Bournemouth….3 yellows

26th Jan 2008….Chester 0-1 Millers….6 yellows

So far this season, Tony has taken charge of 13 games, handing out 30 yellows and just 1 red.

The red card was for Oldham’s Sean Gregan for foul and abusive language in their 3-3 draw at Hartlepool in September.
His most recent game was last Tuesday’s goalless draw between Swansea and QPR in which 6 players were booked, all from QPR.
