The man in charge of our Easter Monday game will be …

KEVIN WRIGHT from Peterborough

Kevin rose quickly through the refereeing ranks via the Peterborough & District, United & Eastern Counties and Conference leagues reaching the Football League line in 2000 with his first match in the middle being three years later.

As well as football league games Kevin has been in the middle for the finals of the Dallas Cup in the USA, the Nordic Cup in Iceland and at Wembley.

The first time Kevin was in charge of a Millers game was at the JBB Stadium when goals from Jason Roberts and Alan Mahon gave Wigan all three points in the Championship. Paul Hurst, Shaun Barker and Robbie Stockdale were booked that day.

Kevin was also in charge of our game in April 2006 at Belle Vue which ended with a win to Doncaster Rovers when Neil Roberts and Sean Thornton gave the hosts a two-nil lead. Jonathan Forte pulled one back for the Millers but on twenty-one minutes Lewis Guy made it three-one to Rovers. He was also in the middle for our loss at Millmoor to Barnsley in October 2005 when Martin Devaney got the only goal of the game and our two-one win over Scunthorpe at Millmoor in August 2006 when Eugene Bopp and Pablo Mills scored the Millers goals after Billy Sharp had opened the scoring for the Iron.

Kevin was in the middle for a Millers game was at the end of January 2011 when Stockport County came to Don Valley. An own goal from Aaron Brown started the scoring on twelve minutes with Ryan Taylor and Adam Le Fondre making it three-nil before half-time. A second goal from Taylor just before the hour mark gave the Millers a four-nil win.

This will be Kevin’s second visit to the New York Stadium, the first time being in February last year when Leyton Orient were the visitors. Wes Thomas scored for the hosts on ten minutes with Moses Odubajo equalising thirty minutes into the second half. But Alex Revell came to the rescue in the final minute of the game to make it a two-one Millers win.

This season Kevin has been in charge of twenty-six games showing eighty-four yellow and five red cards.
