The man in charge of our Tuesday night game at Ewood Park will be . . . .
Mark Heywood from Cheshire
This is Mark`s seventh season as a Football League Referee.
Mark was last in the middle for a Rotherham game in our League Two encounter at the New York Stadium when AFC Wimbledon were the visitors. An Alex Revell strike on seventy-six minutes was the only goal of the game. Joe Skarz saw yellow for the Millers on this Good Friday afternoon as well as Wimbledon’s Luke Moore.
The first time Mark was in charge of a Millers game was at Valley Parade where a fierce tackle by Michael Flynn saw Gareth Evans on the deck in a heap and, although he tried to carry on, he was soon replaced by Marcus Marshall. On twenty-two minutes Luke O`Brien handled the ball in the area and Lewis Grabban scored from the resulting spot-kick. The Bantams equalised twelve minutes later with a goal from Chris Mitchell. Six minutes into the second half Alex Revell regained the lead and six minutes later Marshall made it three-one to the visitors. Mr Heywood evened the penalties up in time added on when the ball flew up and hit Jason Taylor on the arm but Logan saved from Flynn. A minute or so later the referee saw yet another handball in the area, this time by Tom Newey, and Flynn made it three-two from the spot. Luckily, before he had time to spot another handball Mr Heywood blew the whistle.
In the seven games Mark has been in the middle for this season he has shown twenty-three yellow cards and one red card which was to former Miller Danny Collins, now with Grimsby Town.
