Rotherham United Manager Neil Redfearn says that having this week free from mid-week games has given him some important time with the squad.

Speaking to Radio Sheffield the Millers Boss said, ‘I think you can see, on the pitch, some of the difference that`s already been made. At times we`ve played well and, maybe apart from the second half against Sheffield Wednesday, by-and-large the performances have been good. And that`s important for the boys to understand that we are in the game, that we are competing and games don`t go away from us.

‘What we`ve got to get to now is getting the first goal because the first goal is important. You get your tails up and you get your confidence with it. And, if you`re scoring goals it`s easier for your back lads because they get more confidence and start squeezing higher up the pitch. There are fine margins in the games like two two-one`s and a one apiece there`s nothing in it.

‘It`s about getting to the point now where you start tipping those games in your favour and it might mean we`ve got to bring some bodies in to help the lads but the ones who come in have got to be better quality because it`s no good fetching in players who are only as good. You might as well persevere with the ones you`ve got.

‘I`ve already said this is going to be a process and we want to get it right sooner rather than later so we`ve not got a lot of games to play with. But I do know that there`s got to be some perspective here.

‘We`re coming into some tough games. We`ve just had Reading and Sheffield Wednesday and now we`ve got Derby and then Middlesbrough who have just knocked Manchester United out of the cup.`
